They say if you love your job, you never work a day in your life!  We can vouch for that!  It's not for the faint-hearted and it is hard work.  It can be heartbreaking when people move on to new pastures or when illness or old age robs us of one of our pack but .......... it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all!  The dogs teach us so much and whilst it can be quite trying at times, it is most definitely the best job in the world!

Selly

Business Owner

Dogs are a way of life for me and my family.  They have been a large part of my life for as long as I can remember.  My career has been in IT & App Development and so setting up Mucky Pupz fulfilled a lifelong dream of working with dogs. I could never have imagined that it would develop into a tight-knit community of like-minded people!

I spend my time between the grooming salon and the office, as sadly, admin is a part of any chosen career!  My favourite dogs to groom are Bichons and Doodles, and I am particularly interested in Asian Fusion grooming.

Mucky Pupz has grown from strength to strength and it is with huge thanks to my staff and, of course, all of our much-loved doggy parents.  Despite the COVID outbreak, they have all continued to support us, and we will be forever grateful.

I have passed my Level 3 and nearly completed my Level 4 qualifications in Canine Behaviour.  Thanks to the paperwork she left me with, Sammy is a little ahead of me!

Gemma

Daycare Supervisor

I have been working at Mucky Pupz for 7 years now.  I support Sammy in the running of the business and have responsibility for mentoring the nervous dogs and puppies and provide training to our daycare dogs.

I'm very interested in canine nutrition and will be starting my formal training very soon.

I own Doug & Wally, both pugs, who feature quite a lot on our Facebook page.  Doug is just a perfect little potato, whilst Wallis on the other hand, is a little on the naughty side!  Together, they compliment each other perfectly!

Sammy

Business Manager

I have taken over the day-to-day management of the business from my mum, Selly.  I've just left her with the boring paperwork!  I love the freedom of running my own business, and I'm learning so much.

I've loved animals my entire life.  I grew up surrounded by them and wouldn't have it any other way.  I have 4 dogs, Lou, Winston & Benson and Taco; 3 dachsies and a pug.

Lou, who is 14, can be seen above on the left.  Her mum, Maisy, is on the right, but sadly she is no longer with us. Our logo is in honour of her! She was a very special little girl, and we miss her very much.

Benson is a little pug that I adopted.  Unfortunately, he lost an eye due to an ulcer.  Apart from being very sensitive to sounds, he manages very well.

I have recently passed my Levels 3 & 4 qualifications in Canine Behaviour.

Living the Good Life!

Having lead a mainly corporate life, it has been a breathe of fresh air being able to work outdoors and be in charge of my own destiny.  I spend my time managing the business with my family and working longer hours than I ever have!   I also run the smallholding which is still in its' infancy and I'm hoping it will provide some healthy living for all of us.

Dogs have been an important part of our family life for so many years and they have seen us through some pretty desperate times.  Our aim is to provide a stable environment for dogs and their owners; when life gives you lemons, we make lemonade!

Daisy and Dory are my constant companions and I've never been happier!

Lucy
Canine Groomer

From a very young age, I always knew I wanted to work with animals.  They are who I am, so I am thrilled to now be a full time Dog Groomer at Mucky Pupz.  I couldn't ask for anything better to be working alongside dogs and taking care of them.

I am mum to Diesel, a blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier, who you'll see in some of the videos.  He has been so good since the day we brought him home, even though his nickname is 'petrol head' at school, as he just never stops!

Cait

Daycare Assistant

Dogs are my passion, and I am mum to Alfie, the Border Collie and Roma, a rescue from Romania.  I love training them, and the best thing of all is that, for me, every day is 'Bring Your Dog to Work Day'!!

I'm currently studying canine behaviour.

I really am living my best life!

Katie

Daycare Assistant

I've always wanted to work with dogs, and I was so pleased to start working at Mucky Pupz in October 2022.  I've learnt so much already and I hope to be able to work towards a canine behaviour qualification over the next couple of years.

I own Gizzi, who's my pug.  She's everything to me and helps me on those days when life feels too much.  The best thing is that I get to take her to work with me and that is something I've not been able to do before.

#FatFrankthePug

I am Frank, otherwise known as FatFrank, which is so not true!!  I do love my food, and I do prefer to stay on the sofa rather than attend daycare but fat I am not!

My mission in life is to get as many tickles during the day as possible.  I can get a little grumpy when I'm ignored, and I might knock your phone out of your hand, or your glasses off your face to get your attention!   The thing I hate most is rude people ;-)

Darcy

I am a 7 year old chinese crested, and I'mm a little Diva!  I love my mum so much, but I'm not keen on men.  They weren't so nice to me in the past.  They scare me and I tend to bark & shake quite a lot.

I'm a sweet girl and I have so much love to give once I know you!

Raphael (aka Roo)

I am a 10 year old Mexican Hairless x Chinese Crested.  I have epilepsy and can appear a little scary when I have strange outbursts.  I don't mean to scare you, I just can't control it.  I have to take medication every day to keep things under control.

I just love life and especially love friends to come and stay.  My mum is always chasing me round and I think it's really funny!

We are both Mexican Hairless - otherwise known as Xolos.  We are very boisterous and full of endless energy.  Our favourite pastime is to wind up Frank!

Rod sadly passed away at the end of the summer 2021.  He had some very complex health issues and his little body was so very tired.  We were privileged to have him in our lives and we miss him everyday.

I am a 11 year old chinese crested.  I am a little shy and hate the winter weather.  I'm a bit of a snob; I certainly don't mix with the daycare crew!!

I am funny a lot of the time and love to spin round and round on the bed and stamp my feet when I'm ignored.

Beau sadly passed away at the beginning of August 2019 after a short illness.  We miss her every day.

I'm a 15 year old female yellow labrador retriever.  I love my soft toys 'patrick' and 'spongebob'. I will probably show them to you when I see you.

I have bursts of energy and still like to have fun but I'm a bit slower than I used to be.   I like to hang out in the shop where I can watch the world go by and have tickles from all the visitors.
