They say if you love your job, you never work a day in your life! We can vouch for that! It's not for the faint-hearted and it is hard work. It can be heartbreaking when people move on to new pastures or when illness or old age robs us of one of our pack but .......... it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all! The dogs teach us so much and whilst it can be quite trying at times, it is most definitely the best job in the world!
The Mucky Pupz Team

Selly
Founder & Director

I am a qualified Canine Behaviourist with over 50 years of lived and professional experience working with dogs. My interest in canine behaviour began in childhood, at a time when dogs lived far more freely, long before today’s complex legal and social frameworks around ownership, control, and welfare. That contrast has shaped my approach ever since.
I hold Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5 qualifications in Canine Behaviour and am working towards being a Clinical Animal Behaviourist. I specialise in understanding dogs within the context of modern family life. My work focuses on how dogs adapt to human environments, how behaviour problems develop, and how education and informed handling can prevent many of the issues owners face today.
I am the founder of Mucky Pupz, a behaviour-lead daycare, boarding, and grooming business created to meet the needs of dogs whose owners work full time. Welfare, safety, and evidence-based practise sit at the core of everything I do, whether I am supporting families, training staff, or delivering education to owners and professionals.
I am a Qualified Canine Behaviourist, Qualified Dog Groomer & Canine First Aider

Sammy
Business Manager
I am the Day-to-Day Operations Manager of the business, responsible for overseeing all daily activity across daycare, boarding, and grooming services. My role includes staff supervision, rota management, operational decision-making, client liaison, and ensuring that standards of care, safety, and compliance are consistently met.
Working at the heart of the business, I play a critical role in maintaining smooth operations, supporting staff, and ensuring that dogs in our care receive consistent, high-quality handling and welfare-focused care. I am closely involved in implementing procedures, monitoring daily practise, and responding to the practical challenges that come with running a busy, licensed canine facility.
My hands-on approach, strong organisational skills, and deep understanding of the operational demands of the business ensure that services run efficiently while upholding the values and standards on which the business was founded.
I hold Levels 3 & 4 qualifications in Canine Behaviour and am also a Qualified Dog Groomer.

Gemma
Daycare Supervisor
I have worked at Mucky Pupz for over seven years and play an active role in supporting the day-to-day running of the business. My responsibilities include mentoring nervous dogs and puppies, providing training support within the daycare environment, and helping dogs settle and thrive in our care.
I have a strong interest in canine nutrition and will be commencing formal training in this area in the near future, with the aim of further supporting the health and wellbeing of the dogs we look after.
At home, I share my life with Doug and Wally, two pugs who regularly feature on our Facebook page. Doug is a calm and affectionate little character, while Wally is full of mischief; together, they balance each other perfectly.

Cait
Senior Daycare Assistant
Dogs have always been my passion. I am an “auntie” to Alfie and Ky, both Border Collies, and the proud owner of Rhoma, a rescue dog from Romania. I enjoy training all three and value the insight this gives me into different canine breeds, backgrounds, and behavioural needs.
I am currently studying canine behaviour and apply this learning daily in my role as a Senior Daycare Assistant, supporting dogs within the daycare environment to ensure they feel safe, settled, and well managed.
I genuinely love what I do, and being able to bring my dog to work each day makes it all the more rewarding.
Canine First Aider.

Lucy
Canine Groomer
From a very young age, I always knew I wanted to work with animals. They are who I am, so I am thrilled to now be a part time Dog Groomer at Mucky Pupz. I couldn't ask for anything better to be working alongside dogs and taking care of them.
I am mum to Diesel, a blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier, who you'll see in some of the videos. He has been so good since the day we brought him home, even though his nickname is 'petrol head' at school, as he just never stops!

Lauren
Daycare Assistant
I've always wanted to work with dogs, and I was so pleased to start working at Mucky Pupz. I've learnt so much already and I hope to be able to work towards a canine grooming qualification over the next couple of years.
I'm currently training for my City & Guilds qualification in Dog Grooming. My dream one day is to own a cocker spaniel of my own. I am passionate about my job and really did hit the jackpot when i became part of the Muckypupz family.

Carol
Part - Time Daycare Assistant
I began my Muckypupz journey as a volunteer after my beloved pug Winnie became part of the daycare family. Now the best part is that i get to spend all my days off, cuddling the dogs and learning along the way.
Winnie is my Pug who is 8 years old and is a little diva. She suffers from Epilepsy but that doesn't stop her being the life and soul of any room.
I am originally from Scotland (you'll probably gather that from my accent). The dogs know exactly who's on shift when they hear my voice! Their favourite Scotswoman.
Canine First Aider

Tina
Daycare Assistant
Tina is a trained primary school teacher with a wonderfully calm and patient way about her, which makes her a natural fit for our daycare team. Proud dog mum to Mary & Mabel, she brings gentle guidance, warmth and plenty of cuddles to every pup she meets. Tina also has a keen interest in hydrotherapy and loves supporting our splash-pool sessions, helping dogs build confidence and have fun in the water. Her nurturing nature means even the shyest dogs quickly feel safe and settled by her side.

#FatFrankthePug
I am Frank, otherwise known as FatFrank, which is so not true!! I do love my food, and I do prefer to stay on the sofa rather than attend daycare but fat I am not!
My mission in life is to get as many tickles during the day as possible. I can get a little grumpy when I'm ignored, and I might knock your phone out of your hand, or your glasses off your face to get your attention! The thing I hate most is rude people ;-)

Darcy
I am a 13 year old chinese crested, and I'm a little Diva! I love my mum so much, but I'm not keen on men. They weren't so nice to me in the past. They scare me and I tend to bark & shake quite a lot.
I'm a sweet girl and I have so much love to give once I know you!

Raphael (aka Roo)
Though Roo has now crossed the rainbow bridge, His spirit lives on in the love, laughter and wagging tails he helped create every day. He will always be a special part of our story and forever in our hearts.
I am a 10 year old Mexican Hairless x Chinese Crested. I have epilepsy and can appear a little scary when I have strange outbursts. I don't mean to scare you, I just can't control it. I have to take medication every day to keep things under control.
I just love life and especially love friends to come and stay. My mum is always chasing me round and I think it's really funny!
Daisy & Dory

We are both Mexican Hairless - otherwise known as Xolos. We are very boisterous and full of endless energy. Our favourite pastime is to wind up Frank!

Rod sadly passed away at the end of the summer 2021. He had some very complex health issues and his little body was so very tired. We were privileged to have him in our lives and we miss him everyday.
I am a 11 year old chinese crested. I am a little shy and hate the winter weather. I'm a bit of a snob; I certainly don't mix with the daycare crew!!
I am funny a lot of the time and love to spin round and round on the bed and stamp my feet when I'm ignored.

Beau sadly passed away at the beginning of August 2019 after a short illness. We miss her every day.
I'm a 15 year old female yellow labrador retriever. I love my soft toys 'patrick' and 'spongebob'. I will probably show them to you when I see you.
I have bursts of energy and still like to have fun but I'm a bit slower than I used to be. I like to hang out in the shop where I can watch the world go by and have tickles from all the visitors.
